Mixing Memory is frequently updated, thorough cognitive science blog written by a doctoral student in philosophy and psychology. Good stuff with *plenty* of citations.
See How Evolutionary Psychology Can Make You Look Like An Ass as an example of his quality writing, and sense of humor.

I survived my trip to St. Louis (and missed most of the torrential rain in Southern California) - in fact, there was better weather in the lou in February. Go figure.
Neil-San has moved his blog off of the brainvomit empire, so instead of reading him here, you’ll have to go to his BlogSpot, http://wade3.blogspot.com. Check out his crazy adventures with his students in Japan… looks like the new incarnation of his blog is more PG than his previous one.
I saw Sac Lunch last week in the Lou - they put on a good show at Mississippi Nights. Last time I saw them, in September, they were noticable tighter and rocked Ciceros. This time, it was a good show, but it was really cool to see them have a bigger following. Thats what you get when you play consistently, and promote, I suppose.

I’ve got to be at LAX in a matter of hours for a 7 AM flight and of course I can’t seem to fall asleep, even though I’ve been close to passing out for the past 3 hours. Circadian rhythms are a bitch.
I clearly have no regular timing cycle for my blog posts…….
Found an awesome new band, Maximo Park signed to Warp Records. Its kind of an odd signing for Warp, considering that Maximo has a Talking Heads/new wave kind of sound, and Warp usually signs the bleepers/bloopers (e.g. Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada.) The video for their song “Apply the Pressure” is good fun, too. I really love the structure of this song…good variety.
I’ll be in St. Louis for the next four days, which should be interesting. Weather looks okay (mid 40s and 50s, some rain). It’ll be raining all weekend in LA, so I guess I picked a good weekend to get away.
Next Thursday, I hope to see Louis the 14th and Hot Hot Heat at the Roxy. Heard on Kroq that Louis the 14th are from San Diego, which is weird considering the pronounced British accent from one of the vocalists…….. must investigate further.

In an amazing feat of serendipity, I will be in St. Louis for President’s Day weekend, which is also host to the semi-annual KWUR Dance show. I helped put these shows on for 4 or 5 years during college, so its nice to come back as the old dude that moved away. Anyway, if you’re in st. louis, you should go. Its on the 20th, and its in the Loop at the 609. Ron S, an amazing local techno producer, is playing in support for Surgeon and Dysphonix. See the flier below.
I think I’m going to turn off comments for this site permanently. I have been blasted with comment spam and it is getting pretty annoying. I use movable type, and it seems like the internet scum of the universe love to fuck with this platform. I switched Nerd Blog over to WordPress, and I haven’t got a single piece of comment spam yet. So without publishable comments, I at least want to reiterate that I can be emailed at shawnz@brainvomit.com
The lack of the updates on this site is directly correlated to the craziness of the past few weeks with people coming into town, and work really picking up. I hope to have some pictures up pretty soon… unless Scooter puts them up first.
